Our story begins in 2010, when brothers Said and Ibrahim built their first traditional guitar from a palm tree and bicycle cables, inspired by the desert blues band Tinariwen. They later formed Taymat, meaning «brotherhood» in Amazigh, and were joined by Azzedine, Baha and Youssef.
Influenced by regional culture and bands like Tinariwen, Imarhan and Bombino, we released our first song, “Afgan Amazigh”, in 2016 and our debut album Afgan in 2019, featuring the popular track “Amksa” which reflects nomadic life in the Zagora region.
We sing in Arabic and in Amazigh, our mother tongue. We share with the world the culture of the desert in particular and the moroccan culture in general. Our music blends traditional local music with desert blues-rock. Taymat’s performance style varies from song to song, from energetic and hot to calm. Through the waves of sound from the guitar that filled with desert blues-rock tones, you find yourself, without feeling, as if you were among the sand dunes.
We have performed at various festivals, we were the first Amazigh band to play at a NASA-organized concert at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Marrakech (21 October 2024) and had an exclusive concert in American Centre of Casablanca (27 February 2025).
You won’t forget our play. Give you spirit a mental journey to the desert.
